1. Community Transport Scheme based at Bridges Centre in Monmouth. This is a volunteer car scheme operated by Bridges, users pay a small booking fee to use the service. It provides flexible transport for people who have difficulty using existing transport services. Call Bridges on 01600 228660 or email carscheme@bridgescentre.org.uk
2. Driving Miss Daisy - a community companion scheme. Assisted Transportation - Driving Miss Daisy - Home. Call 0333 014 6211. There is a driver based in Lydney who covers the town and surrounding areas. You can email lydney@drivingmissdaisy.co.uk or call Glyn Van Poetsch on 07599 011397. Driving Miss Daisy will assist you in and out of house, accompany on routing appointments, holidays, day trips and offer companionship at home.
3. Bream Voluntary Car Service (BVCS) - an independent charity serving the Forest of Dean, transporting carers and those who need transport for medical appointments. Drivers provide a door-to-door service at no additional cost. They routinely travel to medical appointments in and around the FOD, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Bristol and Oxford but go even further if needed. There's no membership fee and standard mileage charges apply starting from the point the driver leaves their home.
